About
Double J Performance Horses thanks you for taking the time to visit our page and check out the horses that we have to offer. My mother and I have a combined total of over 65 years of experience with horses. We pride ourselves in offering top quality horses at what we feel are reasonable prices. Through the years, we have strived to breed horses that are pretty to look at and a dream to ride. We have changed our philosophy just a little when we decided to keep TheLukeofPerfection as a breeding stallion. Now we are striving for pretty to look at, a dream to ride and a disposition to die for. In all our years of raising horses we have never had one so……easy to halter train as a baby. As Luke has grown and his training continued, his disposition just continues to shine. Luke’s foals have the same wonderful disposition.

As a child I cannot remember not loving horses and begging my parents to buy me a horse. We lived in town so the only horses I got were the kind that did not eat. When I was five we moved to a farming community in western Iowa and next door to a local Appaloosa breeders. They allowed me to sit on their Appaloosa gelding and the love affair began. I kept asking my parents for a horse and for my thirteen birthday I received an Appaloosa mare. I started my adventure with this wonderful breed and I have never turned back. Shortly after receiving my mare I started researching the history of the Appaloosa and the Nez Perce and made my first Indian Costume. I was involved with 4-H and the regional Appaloosa shows. After high school graduation, I even found a college where I could take my horse to school with me. I earned a degree in Equine Management from Northwest College in Powell Wyoming. I had lofty goals as a child growing up and that was to raise quality appaloosas and show at the National level. I feel like I have achieved most of my goals with one major goal left. In 2006 our gelding, Almighty Budd, which we breed, raised, trained and was shown by Joetta, my daughter, earned the Youth Supreme Champion Horse award. The next goal I would like to achieve is to be able to take the time to travel to the World show after so many years of qualifying horses but not being able to go.

I was raised with Appaloosas and have 23+ years of experience training horses. I was in my first horse show and won my first trophy when I was just over two years old. My parents let me ride a retired appaloosa show mare that was crippled in three legs. I finally asked my mother for a horse that I could halter and brush by myself. When I was five my mom drove to Tulsa, OK and bought me a registered POA mare. I rode her until I was nine. Then Mom was able to buy back an appaloosa mare that she had sold and I was able to ride her. I showed R Lazy April Sue at the Regional level until Almighty Budd was ready for me to ride. I showed Budd throughout my 4-H years and Appaloosa youth years. I was able to attend different clinics while growing up with clinician such as Les Vogt, Richard Shrake, Mark Schaffer, and many others. I have attended Northwest College in Powell Wyoming for Equine Riding and Training. I was on the Show Team at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls Idaho.
